On Saturday 15th July 2017 we joined two of the finest Syrian artists, Manya and Khalda Alkhmri, based in Manchester to get our hands dirty in a creative arts workshop at Wilbraham St. Ninian’s URC, Manchester.

One of the themes of the Celebrating Syria festival is the importance of creativity. In this workshop, everyone was welcome to come and have a go at making their own inspired sculpture or drawing. It was great to see so many people get stuck in creating different things and having a lot of fun together.

Manya Alkhmri graduated from the Damascus School of Fine Arts in 2002 and Khalda Alkhmri earned her Masters of Fine Arts from Helwan University in Egypt.

Rethink Rebuild Society (RR) is a Manchester-based charity that works towards improving the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants in the UK, in particular but not exclusively Syrians, helping them become positively established within British society.
